Engineered Retaining Walls
A building permit and structural engineering are both required for the construction of any retaining wall where the difference in finished grade elevations is greater than 1.2 m (4 ft) in height. Refer to the City of Salmon Arm Building Bylaw 3939 – paragraph 1.3.1.9.2
Other Retaining Walls
There are no restrictions on the construction of retaining walls where the difference in finished grade elevations is less than 1.2 m (4 ft) in height. Refer to the City of Salmon Arm Building Bylaw 3939 – paragraph 1.3.1.9.2
